Thank you Current in Westfield for your complete support and endorsement of Andy Cook for Mayor!

"I have been involved in City, Town, and Village administrations since the early 1980's.  Having attended countless development meetings in Westfield and 8 other Central Indiana municipalities, I feel qualified to recognize forward looking, intelligent community leaders.  Such a group is now in office right here in Westfield.  We are very lucky to have Mayor Andy Cook and his busy crew governing our fair city.  Whether it be Parks and Trails, a Sport Complex, Grand Junction, new business development or programs to help disadvantaged youth, all bases are being covered here.

Shirley and I are happy to support Mayor Andy Cook and his administration!"

                    - Alyn Bernell

"I purchased my first home in Westfield this past fall and I could not be happier with my decision to
become a Shamrock. I look forward to spending my off seasons here for years to come.  I know Andy
is excited about the future and I, too, am anxious to watch our city grow in all the right directions
and am proud to be a part of it!  I will not be in town to vote on election day due to my baseball
career, but Andy Cook will have my absentee vote and full support as Mayor of Westfield."

        -  Joe Thatcher (Pitcher, San Diego Padres)

“I have had the opportunity to work with Mayor Andy Cook on a variety of issues involving both of our cities.  It is clear to me that Andy is sincerely committed to bettering his community and collaborating with others who can positively impact the future of your growing area.

Mayor Cook and I joined together to create the Central Indiana Purchasing Alliance (CIPA) to leverage purchasing power and create efficiencies for taxpayer dollars.  We also work together for the region in a variety of ways through the Central Indiana Conference of Mayors.

It has been an honor to get to know Andy well over the last three years and I applaud his quest for new ideas.  Mayor Cook’s Youth Assistance Program is something I believe sets his leadership apart.

I offer my endorsement of Andy Cook in his re-election bid for Mayor of Westfield and I look forward to continuing to work together for the betterment of our great communities.”

                -   Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard

"Westfield Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics - IAFF Local 4416 endorse Mayor Andy Cook in his campaign for re-election for Mayor of the City of Westfield.  Over the last three years, the City of Westfield Fire Department has enhanced its ability to provide premiere fire suppression, advanced life support EMS, rescue, and all hazards response management to the citizens and visitors of this community.

This has been accomplished with the vision and support of Mayor Cook and his administration while achieving benchmarks that enhance the safety and training of our members to do their job.  All of this while adding fire fighters and paramedics to the department which translates to added value and benefit to safety of this community.  IAFF Local 4416 is pleased to have partnered with the administration to identify key areas where response times to homes and businesses were lacking which justified the need and identified the proper location for Westfield's newest fire station, to open later this year.  Once again, outside the box thinking and cooperative attitudes won the day last month when Westfield was awarded $1.4 million grant from the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant program that will result in twelve new fire fighters on the street when the station opens this summer.

In a city that has grown over 300% in the last decade, keeping up with that growth from a pubic safety standpoint is challenging.  This membership is pleased to have taken part in applying cost savings where possible to deliver premium service to the citizens of Westfield at the most efficient cost possible.  The Westfield Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics recognize and appreciate the vision for the future that Mayor Cook and his team will implement over the next four years and support the approach to public safety and emergency response this mayor has set out to achieve for the citizens of this great community."

                            -  Tony Murray (President Hamilton County
Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 4416 )

"I have been honored to have been employed by the Town now City of Westfield for over 33 years.  During this time, I have heard many people talk about their vision for Westfield.  Over the last few years the vision has taken on a new face.  Not a face of one individual, but a face that involves every aspect of the community.  Andy Cook has brought people together to achieve this vision.  Chris Tomlin, a Christian song writer, sings in a song: “Greater things are yet to come, greater things are still to be done in this City.  Great things have and under Mayor Cook will continue to move Westfield forward.  I support Mayor Cook and his leadership team for four more years."

                           - Gary Southerland

"I have known Andy Cook since 2007 when he was elected as Mayor of Westfield Indiana.  Andy has always impressed me as an intelligent, hard working and dedicated professional who genuinely cares about the City and each and every individual in it.

Upon taking Office, Andy recognized that he needed to learn more about public safety and he immediately got involved and made it a point to become educated.  He participated in ride-a-longs with both the police and fire departments and took it upon himself to become familiar with the Sheriff’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Office and the judicial system.  Andy has learned a great deal about public safety and believes that for the Westfield community to grow and prosper, the citizens of Westfield must be safe.

Andy has worked closely with community leaders, often times as the driving force, to address public safety concerns and ensure that not only the City of Westfield but Hamilton County in general is a safe place to live, work and raise a family.

I am truly grateful for his leadership and mentorship and fully support him in his bid for re-election as Mayor of Westfield."

           -    Mark J. Bowen (Sheriff, Hamilton County)

"As the former Sheriff for Hamilton County, I crossed paths with Mayor Cook on a regular basis.  While my relationship with him began when he was a sitting Westfield Town Council member, my friendship began after he was elected Westfield's first Mayor.  Andy immediately engaged himself in every facet of protecting his community and cared very much for not only the public safety perspective, but also what his citizens felt.  He single-handedly reinvigorated and restored confidence in the public safety professionals and to this day plays a vital role in day to day events.

Andy's vision, ethical expectation's and incredible energy set him apart.  On so many occasions he has done what he feels is right, even if not popular and all the while being the voice of reason through very complicated matters.  Why?  Because he cares very much for the people that he serves and strives every day to be a model of professionalism, character, and is the epitome of an unselfish servant.

I so very much appreciate his guidance, wisdom, and friendship as he helped me through very difficult community circumstances.  He always made time to listen and has a magical way of methodically dissecting issues that bring clarity and purpose.

Andy Cook represents purpose over politics and most certainly has my complete support!"

                    - Doug Carter (Hamilton County Sheriff 2003-2010)

"I met Andy four years ago when he was running for Westfield’s first Mayor.  We sat down for a chat and after a few minutes, it became clear to me who would become the first Mayor of The City of Westfield.  I could tell very quickly that he possessed a quality so hard to find.  He cared; cared about the community and he sincerely wanted the best for the City and citizens.

His administration’s goal setting policy has set a course of economic development for jobs, better services and lowering taxes.  He continues to listen and work with local and future businesses owners to bring a bright future of success.   His forward thinking in public works and public safety has brought services second to none.

Andy’s initiative in building parks and trails enhance the health and well-being of the community and has brought Westfield in step with other successful Cities and he is not done!

It is always a pleasure as a member of Washington Township Government to work with Andy.  I feel his vision and continued leadership will bring positives to the future of Westfield and Washington Township.

To be a good civic leader, one must be able to foresee the problems of tomorrow and start implementing solutions today.  I whole-heartedly endorse and support Mayor Andy Cook for a second term as Mayor for the City of Westfield."

                    - Jim Peyton (Business Owner and Chairman
                      of Washington Township Board)

"Mayor Cook has been in office over three years.  During this time, we have had an excellent relationship built upon frequent and open communication, a shared desire to make Westfield the best place possible in which to live and raise a family, and a commitment to being fiscally responsible to the citizens.

There has never been an issue during this time period which had an impact on schools that we were not aware of; and in fact, discussions were held to be very clear on any impact.  This is true about actions that have been taken on proposed activities.

Even with the bad economy, projects have been completed, working efficiencies have been forged to save taxpayer dollars, and the result is a lower tax bill for homeowners than three years earlier.

In summary, what I have grown to appreciate over the past three years is that Mayor Cook does not look at how to "spend" money, but "invests" in the improvement of the quality of life of Westfield residents and the growth of the tax base to stabalize and eventually lower tax bills further.  Investment leads to growth, while doing nothing fosters decline."

                    - Dr. Mark Keen (Westfield Washington
                       School Corporation Superintendent 1997-Present)

"My wife Linda and I moved to Westfield 32 years ago and fell in love with the area.  We have raised three children who have gone through the excellent school system that Westfield has to offer.  My love for the Town gave me the incentive to want to become involved and give back to the community.  I became a member of the Planning Commission in 1987 and was elected to the first five member council in 1992 where I had the pleasure of serving the Town for 16 years.

I got to know Andy when he was elected to the Town Council and I was truly impressed with him both as a person and as a business man.  He became involved in the Town for all the right reasons.  He attended meetings prior to his deciding to run for office because of his concern for the high property taxes.  He then ran for office on that platform and was elected because he did his homework and became very well informed.

I am proud to say that I know and have served with Andy.  He is an honest and sincere individual who is very family oriented and has a great business sense.  His love for Westfield is clearly obvious to me and I strongly support him in his re-election endeavors.  I value his friendship and his leadership and I know that he truly has the City of Westfield's best interest at heart."

          - John (Jack) B. Hart (Current City of Westfield Board of Works Member,
Past Town of Westfield City Councilor 16 years, Past Westfield Washington
            Plan Commission Member)

"I have traveled throughout the State of Indiana for the past 11+ years and work specifically with many Indiana Counties, Cities & Towns.  I am also a member of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) and served as an associate board member over the past two years.  I've had the opportunity to learn and understand how local government entities work, along with the continued financial struggles they face.  Many local communities struggle with  continued aging infrastructure that was built over 50-100+ years ago.  Some communities have a difficult time implementing or finding creative ways to improve aging infrastructure.  Westfield is different.  As the newest Indiana City, Westfield has been proactive and creative with continued state of the art progressive movements.

When I was first asked to serve on the Board of Works and Safety, I wanted to tour the city facilities and learn how efficiently the operations were run.  Much to my surprise, I was amazed at the efficiency, many statewide awards and the good condition of the city facilities.  Serving on the board, I have personally experienced the leadership of Mayor Andy Cook.  He is down to earth, not afraid to ask tough questions and tackle the difficult situations.  I am impressed with Mayor Cook's efforts to continually reach out to area neighborhoods by attending annual meetings and the creation of WeCAN to continually listen and assist the local community with ideas to improve our great city.

The City's motto is:  "Accountability, Innovation, and Integrity."  Andy Cook has demonstrated all of these core values during his first term as Mayor of Westfield.  I am proud to continue and support Andy Cook for Mayor of Westfield in 2012."

        - Mark Heirbrandt (Current Board of Works and Safety Member and
          IACT Board Member)

Let's Keep It Going

"In just a few short years, Mayor Cook has got everyone in this City thinking outside of the box and he has raised the bar for quality of life here in Westfield.  The following accomplishments are a direct result of the Mayor’s leadership and vision for our community:

1. We now have a dynamic plan for the downtown Grand Junction, bringing the business community together in a number of ways.

2. The Grand Junction Derby has been a tremendous success.  It has been fun for residents and businesses alike, enhancing a “sense of community”.

3. Numa Festival has continued to out-do itself each year, as has the Westfield Farmer's Market.

4. The City has maintained state of the art utility, publicworks and safety facilities – attracting the best and the brightest to serve us all.

5. Westfield Public Works does a tremendous job maintaining our roads & streets, water & wastewater utilities, storm water management and a variety of City services that most take for granted.

6. Westfield's Public Safety resources and personnel are among the best of the best.  During my tenure as a downtown business owner, I’ve experienced an attempted break-in, fire safety inspections, and I've even been pulled over for going a little bit too fast on perhaps one occasion.  In every situation that I've encountered with our Public Safety Officials, it has been a positive experience.

7. Our City employees are competent, courteous, sincere and very professional.

8. The proposed “Sports Capital of America” initiative is going to be a huge economic development engine that will improve the quality of life here in Westfield, as well as create opportunities for generations to come.

As citizens, property owners and members of the local business community, we can be very pleased and proud of the job being done by Mayor Cook and his very capable staff. The momentum Mayor Cook has brought to the Westfield community has been overwhelmingly positive.  Mayor Cook has demonstrated strong leadership, high integrity and results-oriented accountability.  Let’s keep it going!"

                    - Otto "Buzz" Krohn (Westfield Business Owner)

“Visions of a future Westfield are scary to some, bothersome to some, or filled with promise and opportunity.  Change is inevitable.  It will come.  A perfect example of that is the US 31 interstate project.  It is a reality and is moving forward.  Mayor Cook has embraced this reality and is turning this into opportunity for Westfield.  His tireless efforts in meetings with INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation) to insure quality upgrades and feeder road improvements warrants our support of Andy Cook for another 4 year term.  We need his experience.  He has improved our city immeasurably by cutting expenses, improving efficiencies in all city departments, and bundling purchasing power.  We tax payers should applaud his fiscal leadership.    He also has improved Public Safety by reducing response times keeping you and your family safer.  Andy also gives back to Westfield by volunteering.  He has engaged the community by starting the Westfield Youth Assistance Program where he also mentors youth.  Westfield needs business growth and good stewardship to continue.  Great opportunities are ahead of us.  We need Andy’s leadership and vision now more than ever.”

                - Jim Ake (Resident, Past President of HOA in Centennial,
and Candidate for Westfield City Council At Large)

"I support Mayor Cook as I believe he has a "Heart" for our community.  I value his leadership for the City of Westfield as he took us from a Town to a City as being our first Mayor and put us on the "map" in the State of Indiana.  I also appreciate his servitude in helping the less fortunate in our community and his humbleness to give quietly which sets an example for all of us.  Mayor Cook has been a real inspiration to our employees here at the City of Westfield and continues to challenge us perform at higher levels so we can be proud of where we live.  I look forward to serving with him in the years ahead as our next Mayor to help our community grow as we all continue to strive hard for Westfield in a competitive market and also to be a caring neighbor for our citizens here in Westfield and Washington Township."

        - Sherry Goins (City of Westfield, Public Works Department Retiree
(16 years of service), past Westfield Washington Chamber of
Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award Recipient, City of Westfield
         Brad Marcum Character Award Recipient)

"As a downtown business owner, I cannot say enough great things about the integrity, leadership, and kindness of our Mayor Andy Cook.  I remember several years ago when Andy and Barbara were out meeting the downtown businesses.  At the time we were in our location on the corner of Union.  He wanted to know my concerns as a business owner, what did we (the city) need to work on to help me as a business owner.  I mentioned parking, economic development and awareness to our citizens that there really was a downtown.  Since that time, all my concerns have been addressed.  More parking, a downtown neighborhood association, plans for the Grand Junction and more.  I am thrilled with the progress and am excited about the future.   Personally, I always feel as if the Mayor treats me special, but then I see him interact with others and hear the same thing from business owners and citizens......so not only does he have a great eye for economic development, improving our public safety, and tax base, but he is one of us, living and working in Westfield and making a difference every day!"

"In 1987 my family and I came to Westfield. We found a great place to live. A family orientated community. We were privileged to see Westfield elect their first Mayor, Andy Cook. We have seen many firsts since Mayor Cook took office. The voters truly made a wise choice in electing Mayor Cook. Because of the Mayor's leadership, many citizens have stepped up to serving their community. Now as a Citizen, Father, Grandfather and businessman, I look forward to the reelection of Mayor Cook. Mayor Cook has demonstrated that he can take Westfield in a direction of well thought out growth as well as developing a City that families may live, play and have a well balanced education. We continue to be optimistic with the reelection of Mayor Cook, that our city will be moving forward."

        - W. Terrel Gray (Owner of Queso Blanco in Downtown Westfield)

"In 2007 Andy Cook ran for the office of Mayor of Westfield behind the promise that there was a vision for our future, and not just a program of maintaining what we had.  The implementation of the Grand Junction Plan, the rapid growth of our parks and trails, the Youth Assistance Program, stronger and better public safety programs, the new fire station, the plans for the public safety training center, and now the Westfield Grand Park sports campus constitute an incomplete list of all that has been accomplished.  Economic development initiatives coupled with a rigidly conservative spending philosophy have served this community extremely well.  I support Andy Cook for Mayor in 2012."

        - Tom Smith (Retired F.B.I. agent and current Westfield
           City Council President)

______________________________________________________________________________________

"After Andy Cook was first elected for the final year of the existence of the Westfield Town Council for 2007, he provided a different style of leadership to the Council that was desperately needed at the time as the community was preparing to transition to a City form of Government in 2008.   He was encouraged by many people, including me, to run for Mayor the following year because of the leadership and organizational skills he exhibited as President of the Town Council.

Those leadership and organization skills have been utilized to the utmost by Andy as the first Mayor of  the City of Westfield, Indiana.  From his strengthening of the leadership positions reporting to his office, to his establishment of the focus of the entire City’s staff on “Accountability, Integrity, and Innovation”, Andy has shown the way and motivated the entire organization.

The achievements that Andy and all of the associates of Westfield have accomplished, are far too numerous to list in this short summary, but those achievements make Westfield stand out, not only in Central Indiana, but in the entire State of Indiana.  I strongly feel that It is imperative, in order to continue that momentum and the implementation of his vision for Westfield, that Andy Cook be re-elected to a second term as Mayor of Westfield.  I strongly endorse Andy Cook for that second term as my Mayor for the City of Westfield."

            - Joe Plankis (retired City of Westfield Economic Development
Director, past Town of Westfield City Councilor, past Chair
of Westfield Washington Advisory Plan Commission Steering
Committee, past volunteer that successfully kept Westfield
from being annexed by Carmel 2004-2006)

"Soon after moving to Westfield in 2005, I immediately recognized Westfield as a town with sound leadership and endless opportunity. My wife and I have opened several companies locally, including a restaurant and, most recently, our Real Estate Company, WKRP Indy. We find Westfield to be a city that sells itself with reasonable home prices, convenience and public safety.

Often I work in other communities and am challenged by their lack of assets.  None of them compare to Westfield’s infrastructure and fiscal planning. With its competitive tax rate and continual growth, Westfield provides a supportive and healthy environment for both families and businesses.  It is Mayor Cook's vision and leadership that have been the impetus behind moving Westfield into a 21st century town.

I heartedly support Andrew Cook for Mayor in his re-election campaign and his Vision of a Brighter Future…."

          - Curt Whitesell(Owner of WKRP Indy Real Estate Professionals)

"Mayor Cook is a visionary and passionate leader.  In my participation with him in the Westfield Youth Assistance Program, I have found him to be a very responsive and supportive city executive who is capable of educating and engaging the citizens, business leaders, and schools around an effort to reach out to the at risk youth of our community.  This cause will help turn around the countless lives of these young people and their families.  The impact of his effort will be the lasting legacy that will benefit our community well into the future.  I whole-heartedly endorse his candidacy for a second term as Mayor of Westfield."

"Dr. Patrick Webb and Kelly Creek and our family (Franklin, Nicky, and Angelina) would like to extend our wholehearted endorsement for Mayor Andy Cook's re-election as Mayor of Westfield!  Our family is a Scouting family and Mayor Cook and his Office have consistently provided long-term support and encouragement regarding the Cub Scouting/Boy Scouting efforts of the Pack/Troop that our sons have participated in.  Mayor Cook has been an excellent role model for our boys and their colleagues in Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts and he has exemplified Leadership/Service by his participation in Cub Scout Pack 129's Advancement Ceremonies, breakfasts, many other Pack activities, and overall support in assisting with shaping the values/ideals for the future leaders of our community/nation!  We hope to see Mayor Andy Cook and his Office elected to a future term in 2011!"
