It has been such an honor to serve as the first Mayor of Westfield for the past three and a half years. During my first campaign for Mayor, I listened to residents tell me that Westfield needs direction, and that Westfield’s potential needs to be maximized, and most importantly, Westfield needs to establish an identity while managing growth. Based on accountability, integrity and innovation, I have made those concerns my top priority over the past few years as Mayor and I feel we must continue the vision.
In 2008, we began planning for Westfield’s future. We started planning for our financial future, planning for downtown redevelopment, thoroughfare planning, utility planning and economic development planning. For two years we strived to build the foundation for our new city so that we could ensure residents and potential residents that our quality of life will increase. Our planning has paid off.
Currently, I now no longer refer to Westfield as the “City of Plans,” I refer to it as the “City of Implementation.” Our emerging city now has direction, we’re fully maximizing our potential utilizing our many assets for the good of our community and we are beginning to see economic development investment in our community because of our “implementation.”
In the past three years, we’ve begun the downtown redevelopment, constructed many miles of pedestrian trails, created a unique and highly successful Youth Assistance Program, made significant thoroughfare upgrades and are planning to become a true destination creating the Grand Park Sports Campus, just to name a few. Most importantly, it has been an honor getting the opportunity to meet and visit with so many residents who truly share my love for Westfield.
Help me Continue the Vision. Please vote for me on November 8.
